Faculty of Pedagogy
The training either in the full-time or correspondence course is 6 semesters (180 credits).
The full-time course meets every day from Monday to Friday. The correspondence course gives lectures every second and third weekend (Fridays and Saturdays).
Both at the full-time and correspondence courses we allow both state supported and self-supported students.
The goal of the Department of Pedagogy is to develop experts who can collaborate effectively in the operation of public educational and pedagogical systems after graduation. They receive such preparatory training so that they can be profitably employed in high quality communicational, psychological, sociological and pedagogical activities, at in the different fields of culture and economics, and also in private life. These candidates can also pursue further training for an MA degree.
To whom do we offer this training and what is the content of it?
The BA program in Pedagogy offers the practical and theoretical basics of pedagogy in 6 semesters.
After earning a degree they can help to organize and perform educational and teaching tasks in the school system and after school hours.
Their expertise will be needed in schools, children’s institutions, supreme authorities, local authorities higher-level administrations, municipal government, professional services, labor centers, special administrations, museums, educational institutes, non-profit, establishments, social and religious organizations and educational ventures. At the same time they may prepare for the MA program at a high level.
The preparatory section of the training (30 credits) is an introduction to philosophical, sociological, communicational, pedagogical and psychological studies.
The core program covers the most important areas of pedagogy and related disciplines .The corpus of the training is the most important areas of pedagogy and its related branch of knowledge (100 credits). A large number of elective subjects will accommodate students’ personal areas of interest. Within them facultative subject will satisfy the interest of the students.
In semesters 5 and 6, as students pursue their areas of specialization, they may choose to become pedagogical or educational assistants. At the differentiated part of the training, in the 5th and 6th semester, students can make a choice of two specializations: pedagogical or educational assistant (50 credits). These provide theoretical and direct practical knowledge and help to form such ability and proficiency which meet the demands of the workplaces mentioned above.
During the basic training students can choose the teacher-training module of preparing for being a teacher: this which will help their later admission for a possible future MA training to the masters program in teaching.
